Steve was born in Wallasey, Merseyside and taught himself piano from the age of four. After picking up and trying out various other instruments and playing with many schools bands he turned professional at the age of 17 playing pubs & clubs around Merseyside and North Wales.
He studied at Leeds College of Music for three years and shortly after graduating joined The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers as trumpet player. He quickly became the show’s Musical Director and has since toured and worked on many productions of this show (playing trumpet, drums, keyboards or bass) across the UK and Europe including London’s West End. He also was Musical Director / Drummer for two UK productions of Stephen Schwartz’s Godspell. Steve also arranged, orchestrated and performed the music for the West End and Broadway hit The Play What I Wrote. More recently Steve has been asked arrange and record the music for a brand new show in 2005 written by Hamish McColl and Sean Foley (who wrote The Play What I Wrote).
He still tours and plays with various bands (the Steve Parry Band travelled to Africa headlining the Cheetah Arts Festival in Otjiwarongo, Namibia, in July 2004) and has made many television appearances. Steve has also performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Commonwealth Games, Cricket World Cup and Ronnie Scott’s jazz club and composes/arranges for many bands including the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain (NYJO) and his own Steve Parry & The Big Band From Hell.
